Lighten up!
Lighten up, you guys.
Happy almost-Friday from over here at Cabaret White World Headquarters. I thought I’d take a second from kicking cancer’s ass to say a quick hello. Looking through videos to post, I found this one I performed with the amazing John Ellingson last year at our Halloween show.
Life will drive you up the wall so, lighten up
You’ll never understand it all so, lighten up.
If you think about it too much, you may never get out of bed
So please fully ignore it instead.
I mean, right?
I’m wishing you all a great day. If you’re in Portland right now, make sure you get your tickets for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat which OPENS TONIGHT (Happy opening, friends at Broadway Rose Theatre Company!) Then watch this video and remember - don’t take everything so seriously - LIGHTEN UP! (I’ll be over here working on that too!)
Love,
Darcy
Some Good News and Some Not-So-Great News
Hi you guys,
As some of you know, my cancer came back last December and I started immunotherapy right away. Unfortunately, that treatment failed and my cancer is progressing. I’ve been undergoing a number of tests to help figure out next steps. The BEST news about that is how many more options there are for me today than there were during my last go around in 2016 and even MORE than my first one in 2009. Thanks, by the way, to all of you that have donated to lung cancer research!! I’m proof that it helps!!!
All that to say, I’ve decided to take a step back from my beloved Cabaret White. Yes, cabaret brings me joy, but is also energy that I need to reserve right now. I’m hoping to get established with a new treatment soon and as I adjust you can best believe I will be right back at Lake Theater & Cafe - I love those people!! (please go there and watch a movie whenever you can!) and I love you.
Thank you to all of you who are sending me your positive, healthy thoughts and support for my care team and loved ones that care for me in many ways - I’m exhausting! (It’s not easy to take care of a nurse, people.)
I can’t wait to see you at the next Cabaret White show - you can even bring your children.
Love,
Darcy
P.S .Check your home for radon!!
CABARET WHITE VIDEO
This one feels right for today's announcement. "That's Life" sung by one of my faves, Norman Wilson.
That's life (That's life)
That's what all the people say
You're riding high in April, shot down in May
But I know I'm gonna change that tune
When I'm back on top, back on top in June
